Frequently
asked
questions.
How much does a new website cost?
There isn’t one single answer to this question. A new website design is quoted based on the needs of each individual project. Every website is unique and requires different components; using WordPress I design websites specifically for your small business. I will ask a lot of questions, assess your needs, and give you a quote based on that assessment. But rest-assured, the site will not set you back thousands! I understand small businesses and individuals have limited budgets so I strive to keep costs low. Read more about how website costs are calculated
Are all your websites using WordPress?
Yes. WordPress is a great content management system that now powers more than 40% of the web.
Will I need a logo?
Ideally yes as it your identity and separates you from your competition. See my blog post Does my website need a logo for more information.
It is essential that you have a favicon (also known as a shortcut icon, website icon, tab icon, URL icon, or bookmark icon). This is typically square and 512 x 512 pixels. If you already have a good quality logo a favicon may be created using your original design.
If you don’t have a logo or a favicon I have a designer who will create a simple text / font design for a minimum charge of £60. Logos with text and images start from 100.
Examples of logos and Favicons we have recently created:
-
- Martinhoe Cleave Cottages
-
- Car Park Solutions
-
- Operational Research Developments Ltd (ORDL)
-
- Smiths Vintage and Bespoke Handmade Furniture
-
- More Tea Soaperie – handmade soap lovelies
-
- Biosecure degradable chick paper from Kandco Envosave Ltd
Will I need an SSL Certificate?
Yes. Moving to https will prove highly rewarding for your website as you will benefit from greater security and heightened credibility. Your users will be far more likely to trust your website if it displays security indicators. Research has found that these provide a sense of security and reassurance to users as their personal details will be safe on your site. Please read my blog post for more details about SSL Certificates.
Will I be able to update the site myself?
Yes, you will be able to take control of your website and manage it on your own. If required I will show you your way around, and I’m here to answer any questions you have.
When do I pay?
In almost all cases, I will quote and invoice you a flat rate for the project before starting. Depending on the size of your site I require a deposit of 50% to start the project with the remaining 50% due upon completion of the work, prior to upload to the server or release of materials. For rare cases that are too unpredictable to quote without overcharging, a range will be given and the hourly rate will be in affect.
Will you maintain my site for me?
Yes, talk to me about my WordPress Support Package
Who writes the content for the site?
Usually that is you. You are the specialist on your business, so it’s best if it comes from you. If you need help, I have an expert copywriter on my team who can help create content for you at an additional cost.
What if I need help on my site at a later date?
I am only an email or phone call away! I’m here to help you as much or as little as you need, and I won’t disappear once the site is launched.
